“Coming back to school after not being in school for 20 years, I was nervous, I have to say. At first I was even apprehensive. I deal with anxiety and depression, it’s a big thing. When we first started with our projects, I saw a lot of people in my class showing signs of anxiety and depression but no one wanted to come out and talk about it. In the end, I more or less said to everyone that I do struggle. About half of the class afterwards came up to me and said thank you for saying that. I’m one of the oldest here, and I find that a lot of the others look up to me, enough so that I was able to say to them that they can come and talk to me about it. That’s another reason I became a Student Ambassador, so that I could help.”
